Almost everyone who does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) wishes they started sooner. In our classes, your child will get a great workout, have fun, and learn to handle challenging situations with calm confidence—a skill that helps them think creatively and solve problems both on and off the mats.

 BJJ FOR KIDS/YOUTH:FAQ

  • Our kids program is similar in content to our adult BJJ classes, though the techniques may be presented in a more child friendly way with less focus on very specific details, and more focus on movement patterns. Of course, once they master the movement patterns of a technique, Professor Paulo will introduce more specific details to enhance the techniques even further.

  • Yes, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is highly beneficial for kids/youth because it provides a safe and structured way to build both physical and personal skills. On the mats, children develop strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility while learning practical self-defense techniques that rely on strategy and control rather than size or power.

    In addition, BJJ encourages discipline, respect, and perseverance, helping kids build confidence and resilience that extends far beyond martial arts.

    The supportive and team-oriented environment fosters friendships, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward challenges, making it an excellent activity for overall growth and development.

  • Children can begin Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) as early as age 7 at our gym. At this age, children are ready to follow instructions, practice safely with partners, and begin understanding the techniques and concepts of BJJ. Beginning at this age gives children a strong foundation in martial arts that they can build on as they grow.

  • Two classes per week costs $135 (Monday and Wednesday at 5pm).
